Holidays and Hacking Cravings
Today the ladies of the fat burning challenge team and I talked about how most holidays have a way of confronting us with kryptonite (aka carbs) in all forms. Compound that with stress and it can send us back quite a few leaps. How do we handle and hack it?
Susan, one of our fat burning babes, has her carb re-feed this Sunday... lucky her! At least there's going to be a lot of boiled eggs around for the rest of them... hopefully pastured.
It can take up to a month and sometimes longer to beat the carb/sugar addiction. Connie M., one of our fat burning babes, is dealing with it now in the form of keto flu. Withdrawal is not fun and the more carb and crap we plague our bodies with, the more challenging carb depletion is. The good news is that it passes in a few days and you find yourself feeling even more amazing. Connie is a trooper, though, because she's doing the carb depletion right as her period begins. Same with Kim K. So far Kim seems to be cruising along pretty well. She'd been adhering to the protocol with success for the past few weeks leading up to the challenge. Connie had tried the protocol previously with success and is getting back to making her health and fitness a priority after a little time away. She travels heavily for her career and working with her to find ways to stay healthy and fit on the road is one of our goals.
We don't recommend starting the No Fail Fat Burning for Women protocol during PMS or your period. But the Challenge started when the Challenge started. Doing this during your period is definitely a challenge! All these women are rockstars, though, and their determination to do right for themselves is SO inspiring to witness.
L-Glutamine |
- healing leaky gut/ulcers/IBS
- helping the body during high stress events
- treating addiction recovery (helps curb alcohol aka sugar cravings)
- mental focus/concentration
- cellular detoxification
- muscle growth, recovery, repair
- fat burning...... AND...
My suggestion for crushing sugar cravings:
- 5-20g of L-Glutamine over the course of the day based on severity of cravings and "keto-flu"
- If you know you'll be facing a sugar/food kryptonite situation, take 5g of L-Glutamine beforehand.
- Get your one gallon of water in a day. Help your kidneys help you flush out crap and decrease bloat.
Reader Question:
Why do the Fat Burning Babes have different carb depletion days to kick off the challenge? Is it about different goals, body composition, or what?
Great question. And the answers are yes, yes and yes. Satisfied? Okay. See you later...... kidding. Come on back here. I know a lot of readers are following and rooting for these incredible women. Hopefully their journeys are inspiring others to achieve their best health with the No Fail Fat Burning for Women protocol. So let's go into some detail.

Individual protocols |
Let's break it down.
All the ladies are getting (or have scheduled) accurate body fat tests. Either hydrostatic or dexa. Some only have the Omron reading for now. They are also supposed to measured scale weight and chest, shoulders, biceps, hips, waist, thighs, calves.

Measurements:
- Chest- 34
- Shoulders 38- circumference
- Biceps- 11.5
- Hips-35.5
- Waist-30
- Right thigh-21.5
- Calves-13
Although initially wary of trying an approach that seems counter-intuitive to mainstream commercial fitness bullshit -- mostly tailored to men -- Susan's enthusiasm, discipline and positive attitude are going to get her there as long as she stays the course.
I have her on the shortest carb depletion of all the ladies at five days. Her carb re-feed will be this Sunday. I do this because:
- She lifts heavy to induce hypertrophy 3x week
- Two days a week of HIIT (one being a track workout)
- One day of active recovery/regeneration/yoga, etc
- Susan trains in the very early morning
I have her heaviest lift days after the carb refeed and then tapering down volume at the end of the week.
Questions for me or Susan? Leave comments below!

R.N. |
Coming tomorrow, a profile of R.N.'s protocol.
She's using a yet-to-be published decadently delicious morning fat burning beverage bomb for her first twelve days of carb depletion. This woman's kick ass attitude and willpower to take the wheel of her health will inspire you!
Remember: you're not a damsel in distress. You're the hero of your story.
Yours in resilience, strength and sticks of butter,
Michelle
